Why the Empty Tomb?

     For 2000 years we have remembered the loving sacrifice of God's only Son through the imagery of the cross of Calvary.  We remember the death of Jesus every time we see a cross.  We are reminded that our sins have been paid for.  We think of this with both love and sadness;  The love for our God, who made this sacrifice;  The sadness of our hearts, knowing that Jesus paid for our guilt, for our every sin.

     But we can also rejoice and celebrate.  Jesus not only gave his life for us, He then went on to defeat death itself.  His resurrection, symbolized by the empty tomb, means we no longer have to fear death.  It means we serve and are loved by a living God; by the living God.  Every time you look upon the door that leads to the emptiness of the tomb of Jesus, every time you think of what the stone that was rolled away revealed, celebrate!  Know that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of God, waiting... waiting for us.
